This panel brought together harm reduction workers, community members, academics, reporters and producers for a discussion about how meth and the people who use it are portrayed in the media.

The discussion included the stigma people who use drugs encounter and how the media plays into that, what the media's responsibility in reporting drug use is, how police/institutions of power use the media to communicate their message, the pull between deadlines, stories, and how to report them, and more.

Panel was: Manitoba Harm Reduction Network, 13 Moons Harm Reduction, CBC (Producer Kim Kaschor and reporter Lenard Monkman), and The University of Winnipeg (Dr. Bailey Gerrits). Moderated by Bronwyn Dobchuck-Land and Katharina Maier, Assistant Professors in Criminal Justice at the U of W.
